Summer Storms Are A Good Bet This Weekend

After some strong storms yesterday afternoon, we gear up to do the whole thing over again as we finish the week because scattered storms are a good bet this weekend.

Familiar-Looking Friday

If you got used to yesterday’s weather, then you’ll like today’s as well.

We keep the low pressure and frontal boundary in the region and that will once again provide the focus for some showers and thunderstorms to get going with the peak heating of the afternoon and evening. And, like yesterday, they could provide us with a strong wind gust or two in addition to heavy rainfall since they’ll be sitting over one location for awhile with nothing to steer them.

Highs should once again top out around a soupy 80º. Lows at night only fall to around 65º with scattered storms still at play. Yep, that summer pattern is here to stay!

More of the Same for Saturday

Though, at the same time, we’ll try to ease back the rain chances a tad to officially start the weekend. The frontal system will begin to exit the region early in the day, but we’ll still have a soupy airmass to contend with and that will be the focus once again for some storms for our Saturday.

The good news is that we’ll try to push those off to the east as we head into the afternoon hours as well. With a few more peeks of sun possible, high temperatures will respond back to around 85º but it’ll feel worse than that with the sticky air outside. And by the same token, we’ll only fall into the upper-60s for lows.

An Encore for Sunday

We keep the warm and soupy air in place for Sunday and that will lead to a renewed chance for afternoon pop-up showers and thunderstorms. You know the drill, storms may linger over an area for awhile and lead to some flooding. So goes the summer. Highs will once again top out around 88º but that humidity will certainly make it feel over 90º. Lows at night only fall back to around around 70º.

That just about does it for me! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotbg for the latest. Have a terrific Friday!
