Today’s Storms Reduce Highs
Hey folks, cloudy skies this morning will become scattered thunderstorms this afternoon leaving highs in the low 80’s today. Tomorrow’s forecast will be similar giving us afternoon thunderstorms likely until weekend.
With a short wave moving through and lots of moisture available, storms will fire up today and slowly advance northward. In the most intense storms we could see localized flooding and some small hail, but with no wind shear there is no chance for severe.
Rain totals from today’s storms could range from nothing for some places to 2 inches for others. Either way the shade thrown by the storms will keep highs in the low 80’s which will still feel pretty hot due to the high humidity today.
Tomorrow: More Afternoon Storms
The atmosphere stays primed with moisture and instability to produce more afternoon storms tomorrow. In turn, the storms will provide shade and rain which will cool the air leaving us with highs near 80. This is nice for mid-May if you do not mind thunder and downpours.
Because wind shear looks to be lacking once again, no severe storms will probably occur tomorrow. However, keep the umbrella handy as rain may persist into Friday evening with a low in the mid-60’s.
Rain Is Replaced by Heat This Weekend
A ridge of high pressure will build into the region on Saturday cutting off the storm chances this weekend while letting high temperatures return to the mid-80’s. Maybe the heat and clear weekend will provide motivation to open the pool for the summer or at least put on sunscreen.
