Cold and Snow Flurries Continue
Snow flurries are flying around the region as forecast. Temperatures dropped to as low as 3° to 6° across the region, but have warmed to around 8° at 6 AM. Here are the lows recorded by the Kentucky Mesonet.
Another cold day is forecast before a warming trend enters the forecast. Temperatures today will only top out around 20° despite mostly sunny skies later this afternoon. The flurries and snow showers should come to an end by mid morning. Northwest winds will make it feel a bit colder than the forecast temperatures.
Mostly clear skies are expected overnight. Lows will once again drop back into the single digits. Winds will be light though, thus no extreme wind chill is expected.
Thursday, the winds will shift out of the southwest. This will lead to a warming trend in the forecast. Temperatures should top out just above freezing in the afternoon, leading to the melting away of some of the snow. Conditions will also be mostly sunny. It will feel like a heat wave!
Temperatures will drop back into the upper teens on Thursday night thanks to mostly clear skies. A light southwest wind should continue.
A Warm up is on the way!
An upper level ridge will move in place on Friday. This will continue the warming trend into the weekend. We should continue to melt that snowpack away on Friday as highs top out in the low 40s. Again, this will feel quite warm compared to the temperatures we’ve been seeing.
We’ll only drop back into the low 30s on Friday night. This will give way to a warm weekend with temperatures Saturday expected to top out around 50°, followed by the mid to upper 50s on Sunday. Unfortunately we’ll also have to deal with a few rain chances, but at least it will be quite warm!
That should wrap up this forecast. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day! Be sure to check out our weather feed over at @wxornotBG on Twitter and Landon Hampton on Facebook!
