Wind Intensifies Tonight; Rain Arrives Saturday

Low level fog this morning lifted out to thick cloud cover, which made way to plentiful sunshine as we progressed into midday. We’ve recovered nicely temperature wise this afternoon, with highs near 60˚.

Winds Picking Up

A tightening pressure gradient will cause wind speeds to increase through this evening into tonight. Gusts will top out between 25-35 mph.

Wind Speed/Direction

Outside of the wind, conditions for WKU Football’s home-stand against MTSU will be partly cloudy and pleasant, with temps in the mid 50s. With winds out of the south, temps may actually rise through the overnight.

Wind/Storm Concern Saturday

Breezes will continue to increase out of the south as a cold front approaches from our west Saturday morning, while scattered showers arrive.  A Wind Advisory has been issued for our entire coverage area from 6AM – 9PM Saturday.

Wind readings outside of thunderstorms could potentially top 45 mph. Securing lawn furniture & decor, trampolines (God’s Frisbees), etc. would be a swell idea this evening. Don’t be the person responsible for events such as this:

As the cold front barrels through, another concern will rise…the potential for strong/severe storms. Timing for this threat will exists from ~ 2pm – 5pm during the afternoon.

As we’ve mentioned several times over the last few days, widespread severe weather is not anticipated. With that being said, we could see a few instances where damaging, severe wind gusts (> 57 mph) become realized.

COLD Period Follows

Behind the front, winds will shift out of the northwest, causing the proverbial ‘rug to be pulled out’ from under the thermometer.

High temperatures in the mid to upper 60s early Saturday will plummet to the 40s by 7pm, eventually bottoming out in the 30s by dawn Sunday.

Sunday’s high will be constrained by northwest flow, only making it to the mid 40s. Monday morning lows will be frigid in the 20s, before they recover to the mid 50s during the afternoon.

GOBBLE GOBBLE

There’s nothing really significant to talk about for the remainder of Thanksgiving week…

CPC Temperature Outlook For Last Half of Thanksgiving Week

via pivotalweather.com

Guidance currently points to a dry cold front passing by late Tuesday, bringing cooler readings Wednesday through Thanksgiving and Black Friday, with highs located between the mid 40s – low 50s; skies should be partly to mostly sunny.

Needless to say, it should be perfect feasting weather…let’s be honest, what isn’t??
