Fog This Morning

Many of you are waking up to fog this morning, and will be heading out in these conditions. It isn’t too widespread, but it is enough to cause some traffic headaches out there this morning. Take it slow.

WKU Football Gameday

Folks, we’re heading into one of the more active weekends weather wise in quite sometime, but it is also an important weekend for WKU Athletics. Tonight, one of the biggest football games of the season is kicking off at 7:00 pm.

The weather actually looks kinda crazy for it. We’re starting the day in the 30s, but we should end up in the low 60s by this afternoon as southerly flow and sunshine kicks in. By game time, we’ll be in the 50s with increasing clouds, and windy conditions will commence. We’re looking at 25-30 mph gusts during the game.

Same, man.

Yeah, you read that right! The game is already crazy because it is a heated rivalry game, but on top of that, the weather conditions will factor in significantly.

Trampoline Watch for Tomorrow

All of this is in association with what will be a strengthening low pressure system to our west. This will move to our north tomorrow, bringing a strong cold front eastward with it. Ahead of that, it gonna be warm (mid 60s) and wiiiiiiiiindy.

Notice the tight pressure gradient in association with the strengthening low to our north. Also: its gonna be warm before the front. h/t COD Weather

Notice the tight gradient between the lines there. The tighter those line are to each other, the stronger the winds should be. We should be seeing 45+ mph winds most of the day tomorrow.

To top it all off, the models have been consistently showing a strong line of showers/storms moving through between 2 and 4 pm tomorrow. Wind strong winds in the lower atmosphere, this line may tap into them and bring some damaging winds to the surface.

A nice line of showers/storms should move through tomorrow afternoon. h/t COD Weather

The SPC has us in a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe storms tomorrow, mainly for the threat of damaging winds.

This line of storms should mark the passage of the cold front, and a sharp drop off in temps will be noted. Get ready for a nice night of college football by the fire Saturday night, because it is looking quite chilly (low 40s) behind the front.

Cold Shots Heading Toward Thanksgiving

Sunday really starts the period off with a nice cold shot, with temperatures being around 10ยฐF below normal, and only in the lower 40s for highs.

As we head into Thanksgiving week, the models have really been all over the place in the Wednesday-Friday timespan of next week. However, they look to be coming into some kind of agreement now.

The models and their inconsistency right now:

The two big models, the GFS and European model, are really showing cool conditions for Thanksgiving now. Both in their recent model runs agree on temps possibly being 10-15 degrees below normal (upper 30s, lower 40s).

The GFS is on the left, and the European model is on the right. This is showing temperature departures from normal for Thanksgiving morning. It is looking cold right now! h/t wx.graphics

This will likely change between now and then, but hey, at least we have something now!
