The Headline

Phew! It is nice and chilly outside. This is the first day all semester where I will have to wear jeans to class because it is actually cold. It feels like Fall!

A pic of WKU from the top of campus I took yesterday. Expect more scenes like this today. The fall colors are beginning to peak across the region!

The secondary cold front plowed through last night, and temperatures are still falling from it. Temperatures are in the upper 40s to around 50 this morning, and won’t rise too much this afternoon. Also: a nice Fall breeze will be stiff today, too.

Wind gusts of 30-35 mph this afternoon wouldn’t be surprising at all. h/t COD Weather

We’re only expecting highs in the upper 50s this afternoon. Because midlevel temperatures are so cool, anticipate cloud covert o develop this afternoon, and an isolated shower or two can’t be ruled out.

Overnight, the clouds will move out, leaving lows to fall into the upper 30s. Tomorrow? Another system will approach from the northwest.

This little shortwave will be enough to force thick cloud cover and isolated showers tomorrow. h/t COD Weather

This will be moving quickly southeastward, and will provide plenty of clouds and scattered showers during the afternoon and evening hours. Because of this, temps are only expected to remain in the lower 50s.

On Thursday, we will likely see a pretty quick warm up. Surface flow should quickly shift to southerly flow as a new surface low develops across the plains and begins to impact us.

The low pressure developing on THursday is leaving a bit of uncertainty in the temperature forecast. h/t COD Weather

This will be our next weather producer on Friday night and Saturday, bringing heavy rainfall and much cooler temps to the region by the weekend. On Thursday, though, it will just act to warm us into the low to mids 60s.

The Fall air looks legit this coming weekend, with highs in the 40s both Saturday and Sunday, and our first frost/freeze anticipated!
