A Frost Advisory is in effect for Barren County for the potential of frost overnight. According to the National Weather Service sensitive vegetation may be harmed or killed, so plan accordingly. A “clipper” system may bring isolated showers to the region today, with a warm-up in store to end the work week. Get ready for that temperature roller coaster!
Today – Isolated Showers – High 60° / Tonight – Clear Skies – Low 37°
Mostly cloudy skies overnight led to slightly warmer temperatures across the central part of the state. Compare the low to mid 40s to the 30s over the eastern and western portion of the state. Pretty neat!
A clipper system will move out of the north today, which could lead to the development of isolated showers across the region. However, dry air in the mid levels of the atmosphere may lead to the evaporation of rain before it reaches the ground, much like yesterday.
With northerly upper level flow, temperatures will top out right around 60°. Which ain’t too bad for this time of year!
Mostly clear skies are expected overnight. This will lead to temperatures falling into the mid to upper 30s. Some frost is certainly possible in rural parts of the region.
Thursday – Mostly Sunny – High 66° / Thur Night – Mostly Clear – Low 55°
An upper level ridge will begin to move into the region on Thursday. This will lead to warming temperatures under fair conditions. Expect mostly sunny skies as highs top out around 66°. Pretty much perfect weather if you ask me!
Mostly clear skies will continue overnight as southerly winds begin to kick up some. This will lead to mild low temperatures in the mid 50s.
Friday – Mostly Sunny & Isol’d PM Showers – High 70° / Fri Night – Rainy – Low 40°
An upper level trough will move into the region on Friday. This will lead to widespread southwesterly flow aloft. As a result, temperatures should continue to warm and approach 70° for the afternoon high!
A cold front will begin to approach the region Friday afternoon and evening. This will lead to the development of isolated showers. Showers should become much more abundant overnight as the cold front moves through the region. Temperatures could drop all the way to 40° for Saturday morning lows!
Looking Ahead
A cold area of high pressure will settle into the region over the weekend and into next week. This will lead to calm and cold conditions. We’ll be looking at our first real shot of freezing temperatures Sunday morning and again on Monday morning. The general forecast calls for below average temperatures next week.
