A wild and Crazy Pattern on Deck

The Headline

Hey folks! It has been a while since I have written an actual forecast post for the site! The semester has been quite wild, especially the past couple of weeks. I feel like I have been running around every which way!

Me trying to write everything I have had to for school lately:

Anyways, I hope everyone is doing fantastic today. We are currently waking up to cooler temps, and high clouds traversing through the region.

Hello, high clouds! h/t COD Weather

These are currently approaching the region from the south and west in increasingly amplified flow in the atmosphere. We aren’t expecting much in the way of anything hampering a beautiful day out there, though.

Southerly flow may be the only thing that warms us up a bit more than we are expected to. Expected highs around 80°F this afternoon, but not much warmer than that!

Tomorrow begins the real change in pattern as a sharp and amplified trough begins to approach us as a closed low.

This closed low will be the main forcing mechanism for the rainfall on Monday. h/t COD Weather

This will bring increasing clouds through the day, but temperatures shouldn’t change too much. Look for highs to get into the mid 70s within southerly flow.

By Monday, we will be locked into clouds for the majority of the day as a low pressure system approaches. Associated with this low pressure system will be plenty of rainfall on Monday.

We are looking at 2-3″ of rainfall, with isolated higher amounts possible. With thick clouds and rainfall, we’re only expecting temps in the mid 60s for highs!

The forecast rainfall through Tuesday. h/t WPC

After this cold front moves through the region, we’re expecting much cooler air to move into the region and cool us down significantly. We’ll likely deal with some clouds and multiple shots of cooler air this week. Beyond this week, the models diverge significantly, so I can’t give a good forecast as to what may unfold.

The models trying to forecast the atmosphere the next couple of weeks:
