Stormy and Wet Start to the Week

Today: Mostly cloudy with a chance of  ⛈ – High 76°  – Overnight: 🌧 continue – Low: 57°

Currently, a few showers and storms are making their way through South Central Kentucky. You will likely hear a few rumbles of thunder and see some heavy downpours, but none of these look to be severe. These showers will grow more widespread as the day wears on, but the main severe threat is on the table for this afternoon and evening.

Bowling Green and much of South Central Kentucky have been placed under an Enhanced and Slight risk for severe weather this evening. This is all due to a system that is approaching the region and looks to pack a bit of a punch as it pushes our way.

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a few primary threats of tonight’s system that you should be aware of and plan ahead for, those being:

  • Hail
  • Damaging Winds
  • Small risk for an isolated tornado spin up

The timing of these storms looks to be right around dinner time, 4pm – 9pm. It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to park the car in the garage this evening just to play it safe! The atmosphere has plenty of moisture and wind shear to work with here, which is common with the active pattern we’ve really had a hard time breaking out of.

With that being said, the WxOrNot Team will have written updates as needed throughout today and into tonight. Be sure to follow us on twitter  @wxornotBG and Landon Hampton on Facebook for up to the minute updates as well.

This Week: As we continue on this roller coaster of stormy, wet, and warm weather, temperatures look to remain in the upper 60s and low to mid 70s through Thursday and into Friday. However, rain and possibly storm chances return by the end of the work week.
