Warming Trend for Bowling Green Weather

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

*** Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 9 AM CST ***

A dense fog advisory is in effect for south-central Kentucky until 9 AM. With temperatures in the 20s, there is a good chance that freezing fog is a concern. Road conditions may be slick, especially on bridges and overpasses from the freezing fog.

Forecast Discussion

Reminder that a dense fog advisory has been issued until 9 AM. Some slick spots may develop due to freezing fog across the region. Once again, allow extra time for everyone’s favorite activity this morning.

High resolutions models suggest that clouds may stick around the area this morning and even into the afternoon. This would be very similar to the way things played out yesterday. Therefore, I’m going to mention mostly to partly cloudy skies for much of the day today, despite very dry air present aloft. This can be explained by White Squirrel Weather’s tweet last night.

The cloud cover forecast has pretty high bust potential as lower resolution models suggest very little in the way of cloud cover. Either way, expect temperatures to make it to the low to mid 40s this afternoon. You might see a few ice crystals floating around out there, or maybe even a sprinkle or two if the clouds do indeed stick around. Conditions should clear up overnight leaving us with lows in the low 30s, which ain’t too bad.

A weak cold front will have actually moved through the region overnight leaving us some high pressure behind the front. That will lead to fair weather conditions for Thursday. Mostly sunny skies should develop by the afternoon hours with highs around 42°F likely.

An upper level ridge will move into the region on Friday leading to a warming trend in temperatures. However, by afternoon and evening, an upper level jet will begin to form across the region, leading to lift. Numerous showers are expected overnight, but not before a high of around 47°F is experienced. With rain in the area lows will only dip into the low 40s.

Looking Ahead at Christmas!

“I’m dreaming of a warm Christmas…” Oh, is the not the words? This forecast has me a bit confused then! Fairly strong ridging is expected on Christmas day, leading to warmer temperatures. By the end of the day southerly flow may help temperatures climb even higher. The GFS model has high temperatures in the low 60s with isolated showers.
