Discussion
Well, the forecast this week looks interestingly boring.
That is a nice combo of words, as that will typically imply that the weather this week is looking pretty normal. That is it! Today looks fairly nice, actually. We will still be under the influence of the high pressure system that was ushered into the eastern US behind that front on Sunday.
This is helping us see easterly flow, which is keeping out temps in the really nice range during the afternoon hours. Don’t expect much else today; cloud cover will be limited, and may only become a thing by the evening hours.
Tomorrow is when everything gets a bit interesting. Look from the top of the atmosphere down, a shortwave trough will be the main culprit of what we see at the surface tomorrow.
The trough is noted at all levels of the atmosphere, and as it approaches us, model guidance suggests it to be digging and intensifying, forcing a deepening surface low that should pass to our north and east.
What does that mean for our weather here? Well, look for partly cloudy skies during the morning to gradually give way to mostly cloudy skies by the afternoon hours. Temps should warm up quite a bit in the afternoon with southerly flow. Rainfall should hold off until the overnight hours, but that is when precip should develop and propagate through.
Thursday is back to today’s flow of meteorology, with fairly relaxed conditions forming across the region. The cold front will move through and usher in a fresh, relatively cool airmass across the region.
Clouds will likely clear out by the afternoon, but highs should stay cooler.
Today’s Key Points
- Today looks like the best day of the week
- Today should be cool, sunny and an all around great day
- Tomorrow -> clouds increase by evening; highs rise to the upper 70s
- Tomorrow night should see elevated lows with precip moving through
- Thursday should see cloud cover in the morning, with clouds clearing by afternoon
