Forecast Discussion

One more day of fall-like weather until summer returns to us…

High pressure has settled into place across the region today. This will keep conditions calm across south-central Kentucky. We’re still somewhat under the influence of slight northerly flow aloft, which may help keep temperatures limited across the region.

Southerly flow aloft will return on Tuesday as a broad upper level trough meanders in the western United States. A ridge will build over the region, along with southerly flow. This will increase temperatures once again. Summer looks to have made a return.

That southwesterly flow aloft will continue into Wednesday. The trough will get a little closer to the region, however subsidence between the trough and Hurricane Matthew should keep conditions calm across the area. Highs will once again look a little more like summer than fall, running some 7° above normal.

Extended Outlook

A cold front looks to reach the region by the weekend. While rain chances look slim associated with the front, temperatures should “fall” back some. By the weekend and early next week, lows may be in the 40s once again, with highs in the 60s. Permission to get a PSL granted.

That should wrap up this post. Be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WKUweather for the latest Bowling Green weather information. Have a great Monday!
