Yesterday’s Weather
Yesterday was absolutely…not insane. It was actually mundane, with respect to much of the rest of the summer. Storms did form to our north, and moved southward towards us. They moved to our west through the evening, leaving us with no precip, which is something that I think we are all happy about.

Discussion
Ahh, the weekly GIF forecast! I like to do one of these every week because it breaks from what we tend to do every day, and I think it is a unique way to express a forecast!
Lets dive right in. A cold front is currently moving through the region, and is sparking off some isolated showers and cloud cover across much of the region.
I anticipate this to move out of the region as the cold front sags southward, and begins to establish a new airmass across the region. By the early afternoon, we’ll likely be seeing clouds clear out to partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Highs today should end up in the mid and upper 80s. Dewpoints across the northern portion of the state are in the lower 60s, and I expect the rest of the state’s airmass to modify in a similar way. This will lead to fantastic conditions outdoors this afternoon.
Overnight tonight, I expect that we’ll see mostly clear skies, with lows in the lower 70s. Tomorrow looks very, very hot and humid.
A strong ridge will begin to establish itself across the central and eastern portion of the US, and will begin to show its effects. The weak cold front that moved through will become a warm front for a developing surface low across the central US. This will establish higher dewpoints and surface temperatures.
Expect temps to get into the lower 90s, with afternoon dewpoints in the upper 60s and lower 70s. If you are doing outdoor work on your Sunday afternoon, be careful to stay hydrated and to take breaks during the afternoon.
Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, and lows in the mid 70s. On Monday, it looks just as hot and humid as Sunday.
The ridge will be even more established, and with a cold front approaching the region, we are likely to see some southwesterly flow within the region. This will knock temps a bit higher than on Sunday, with highs likely in the mid 90s. Additionally, we may see some isolated storms in the evening. If not, we will see high temperatures and dewpoints, making conditions outside horrible.
Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, and elevated lows, with lows in the mid 70s.
Extended Outlook
The long term still looks up in the air. The GFS and ECMWF don’t agree on the placement of the mid-level ridge next week, and that is of the utmost importance. The placement of the ridge will determine whether or not we have heat or storms. We could easily see either play out, but it will take time to discern which is more likely.
