Real-time Bowling Green Weather Radar:
Yesterday’s Weather
Yesterday was a fairly interesting day, as we were sitting downstream of a deep trough axis that was moving southeastward through the day. At the surface, a weak warm front lifted northward and forced showers and storms across much of the region early during the day. The in between on this created what was an interesting forecast, and our forecaster, Tori Schow, handled it very well.
She was spot on with the high temperature, as it was 83°F here at the Mesonet station here in Bowling Green. Yesterday’s low was around 69°F because of the clouds overnight. We didn’t see any severe weather, but the eastern side of town did see rainfall.

Discussion
Over the next few days, we are looking at a definite pattern shift across the region.
This is exciting, but will bring with it a couple days of scattered showers to deal with (I promise, completely worth it).
Today, the shortwave axis that was upstream of our region looks to be moving off to our east, with much of the region being underneath a relatively unfavorable region of the mid and upper level jets. In the lower levels, however, it looks as if we’ll see a weak shortwave trough moving through the region.
This should spark off some widely scattered showers and storms across the region for your Sunday. Look for highs to end up in the lower 80s under partly cloudy skies.
Not everyone will see rain, but there is a chance region-wide. Overnight, the threat decreases as the shortwave trough moves to the east. This will allow for temps to fall into the lower 60s. Tomorrow, we are looking to be downstream of one of the main trough that will begin to cool our weather down!
This shortwave will move into the region by Monday night, and will begin to cool us down. Before this, however, we will see a cold front at the surface slowly moving towards us. Ahead of this, we’ll see southwesterly to west-southwesterly flow pushing warmer temps into the region. We should see temps rise up into the mid 80s ahead of this front.
By Monday evening, we’ll should see a thin line of scattered showers/storms moving towards us along the cold front. Lows overnight will end up in the mid 60s as the front takes a little bit to push through the region.
Tuesday is looking really, really nice. I mean really nice.
I’m extremely excited to see temps in the 70s on Tuesday! This is gonna rock, as that sets us up well for the couple of days after Tuesday. With the new airmass in place, and underneath the influence of a deep trough, temps will end up being seasonably cool and in the upper 70s.
Tuesday night looks more interesting, as a strong and amplified shortwave trough will move southeastward within the western periphery of the longwave trough across the eastern US.
This should force some showers overnight, but nothing too widespread. Look for lows in the mid 50s!
Long term outlook
Looking at the pattern from Wednesday and beyond, the pattern continues to look a bit amplified, and a bit progressive, especially by June standards. We will be under the influence of this trough until late Friday/Saturday, as a ridge begins to build into the region by about that time.
Once the ridge moves in, it should be here for a few days (as suggested by long term guidance), with warmer temps expected across the region during that timeframe.
Well, that is all I have in this updated, newish version of the morning forecast! I hope it is easy to see find your weather for the next few days quickly, and efficiently. Be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG for the latest on Bowling Green Weather.
