Stable air is filtering back into the region this morning. This has led to mostly clear skies once again. Southerly surface winds due to high pressure located to the south of the region will lead to highs right around 61° across the area. Overall, another nice day is on tap.
Tonight, a shortwave will begin to move into the region from the south. While this disturbance is rather subtle, it will overspread the region with some clouds and perhaps a few sprinkles. Lows will be around 43°. This disturbance will have more of an impact on Tuesday.
Tuesday – Mostly Cloudy; Rainy – High 64° / Tues Night – Thunderstorms Early – Low 34°
The shortwave will continue to move closer to the region on Tuesday. This will lead to widespread divergence across the area. This will lift showers ahead of the advancing low pressure system. Stout winds aloft and in the mid levels lead me to believe that some instability could advect into the region despite heavy cloud cover.
During the evening hours, a few severe thunderstorms may be possible. The limiting factor is definitely instability. However, some strong winds, small hail, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out within the lines of thunderstorms in the evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our region in a “Slight” risk of severe weather. Activity should diminish as showers transition to a mix of rain and snow. Lows will be around 34°.
Wednesday – Partly Cloudy – High 43° / Wed Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 32°
A much nicer, but cooler day is on tap for the region on Wednesday. Partly cloudy skies can be expected as more stable air moves into the region. Highs will be around 43°.
Mostly cloudy skies will develop on Wednesday ahead of the next low pressure system that will impact the region on Thursday. Lows will be around freezing.
