Holy Cow, This Weather Is Nice

Today: Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs around 69ºF. Tonight: Increasing clouds and showers likely. Lows around 46ºF.

First of all, if any of you were up late watching the Oklahoma City vs Golden State NBA game, you witnessed absolute insanity. I can’t comprehend what happened.

Anyways, today will essentially be the Golden State/OKC Game of Weather. It will be amazing. After the trough that had been plaguing us for multiple days moved on out, we were left with ridging propagating into the region.

This has led to a wind shift from the southwest, and an uptick in temps. Today will be a warmer carbon copy of yesterday across the region. With southwesterly flow dominating the pattern, look for temps to jump into the upper 60s.

Winds will be a bit gusty across the area (30-35 mph gusts possible), so be on the lookout for that. Going into the overnight, we will see increasing clouds, with showers likely by dawn tomorrow. Lows in the mid 40s.

Tomorrow: Decreasing clouds, with warm conditions. Highs around 59ºF. Mon. night: Partly to mostly cloudy skies, with lows falling to around 45ºF.

Tomorrow is going to be weird. I will just say it. Weirdness and craziness make for interesting and difficult forecasts.

So, Monday morning, many of you will likely wake up to isolated showers exiting the region in association with a weak cold front that will be traversing through the region.

The cold front is actually looking to weaken, and stall out as a pseudo warm front to our south during the day. Because of this, I am actually not anticipating the temps to be drastically different tomorrow than they were today. So, look for decreasing clouds, and highs eventually topping out in the upper 50s, and potentially low 60s.

Overnight, skies will become partly to mostly cloudy again as our next system begins to make its way towards us. Lows will fall into the low to mid 40s.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with showers/storms probable by evening. Highs around 63ºF. Tues. night: Cloudy, with rain/storms possible. Lows falling to around 37ºF.

Well, Tuesday’s main feature is likely to be moving in quickly by the time most of you wake up. A sharp shortwave in the mid levels of the atmosphere will be diving across the middle of the nation, forcing a surface low and propagating it towards us.

This will be Tuesday’s weather maker. Don’t be surprised to see a drastic rise in temp between when you go into work and when you get out. I am expecting temps to warm into the lower 60s for highs across the region.

Rainfall will begin to work into the region in association with the upper low and associated surface low pressure system. Some thunder is definitely possible, but right now, I think our region has a low chance of severe weather.

Overnight, look for rain and storms to continue, with lows falling into the upper 30s.
