Interesting Forecast Coming Up

Real-time BG Radar:

Today: Mostly cloudy, with rain/snow possible in the afternoon. High of 35ºF. Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy skies, with lows falling to around 30ºF.

We are in an absolutely wild pattern right now. If you like roller coasters, then this is pretty good for you. Though we haven’t see crazy temperature extremes, we have seen some of the more active weather over the past week that I have seen in quite some time, and it will keep up through today. After we saw snowfall Sunday (5.5″), we saw rain all day on Monday. Today, we will have another system rolling through the region.

This will be quite interesting, as the models have trended a bit further south with the track of this one. This makes the forecast much more interesting, as we won’t be firmly established within the warm sector like previously thought.

This will lead to highs only making it into the mid 30s across the region, which leads me to the precipitation type issue. The dynamics with this one don’t look to be as enhanced as they are with the one we saw last night, but the atmosphere looks to be somewhat dry ahead of the precip, and this combined with time of day (evening), could enhance the wintry precip threat.

At this time, it does not look like there is a high chance of additional snowfall. However, keep abreast with the latest info throughout the day, as this is an evolving system. We could see minor accumulations (dusting – 1″) come out of this. It’s a VERY difficult forecast, considering that temperatures will be fluctuating right around the freezing threshold. Overnight, the system will move out quickly and lows will fall to around 30 degrees.

Tomorrow: Cool, with partly cloudy skies. Highs around 37ºF. Wed. night: Becoming mostly clear, with a low of 28ºF.

Ahhh, here we go. Much calmer.

Luckily, today is looking to be an easier forecast for meteorologists across the land, and for students walking to class. Under the influence of a surface high pressure system, we should see some partly cloudy skies, with highs reaching the upper 30s.

Overnight, skies should gradually clear out, with lows in the upper 20s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high of 54ºF. Thur. night: Mostly clear, with lows falling to around 39ºF.

Thursday marks the beginning of a pattern change. Temps will warm into the 60s (!!!!) by the weekend! First, though, we have to transition. Under the influence of southerly flow, temps will begin a warming trend. Look for highs in the low to mid 50s.

Overnight, lows will fall down into the upper 30s under mostly clear skies.
