Snow Day Bowling Green Weather

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Reminder: A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM. Be cautious on the morning commute.

Today 2/15 – Scattered Showers – High 36° / Tonight – Mix Rain/Snow; Mostly Cloudy – Low 32°

A trough located to our south and west will begin to dig into the region today. This will slowly lift the band of showers you see above northward. Scattered showers should overtake the region during the late morning hours and into the afternoon. Highs will struggle with the snow on the ground and damp atmospheric conditions. Expect highs to only reach about 36° today.

Tonight the rain showers will end as a mix of rain and snow. The transition to rain and snow will likely happen between 8 and 10 PM with precipitation coming to a close around midnight. No accumulations are expected. Lows will be right at freezing.

Tuesday 2/16 – Scattered Rain/Snow Showers – High 38° / Tues Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 33°

Out of the oven and into the frying pan on Tuesday. A “clipper” system from the north is promising to make things interesting. This clipper will be tight and compact, but also robust. Expect a mix of rain and snow showers for most of the day on Tuesday, winding down in the evening hours. However, surface temperatures above freezing will keep accumulations to a minimum despite heavier snow at times.

You can see the clipper system via the NAM model below. The turquoise shading in southeast Missouri indicates the location of the vorticity maximum associated with the clipper.

Tuesday night will bring mostly cloudy skies as the clipper departs with a low around 33°.

Wednesday 2/17 – Partly Cloudy – High 44° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 33°

We get a nice warm up on Wednesday despite that pesky trough remaining in place. Partly cloudy skies will remain in place, perhaps with an occasional sprinkle here and there. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s across the region.

Wednesday night will bring partly cloudy skies with a low around 33°. Following clearing skies on Thursday, our warming trend will continue, with highs topping out in the 60s Friday through Sunday!
