Winter Returns to Bowling Green Weather

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 2/7 – Mostly Sunny – High 55° / Tonight – Scattered Rain/Snow Showers – Low 35°

Another gorgeous day is on tap for the region. After overnight lows in the mid 20s across the region, southwesterly surface winds, as well as aloft, will help temperatures warm up to around 55°. Mid level ridging will help create a stable atmosphere, leading to mostly sunny skies across the region! Be sure to get out this afternoon to enjoy the awesome weather!

Later this evening and overnight an upper level trough will move out of Canada and into our region. This will bring divergence aloft, as well as surface convergence. This will create lift in the atmosphere, leading to the formation of scattered showers. These should transition to snow showers in the early morning hours. The 4km NAM posted below depicts rain showers transitioning to snow showers a little after 3 AM.

Monday 2/8 – Rain/Snow Showers Likely – High 36° / Mon Night – Isolated Snow Squalls – Low 25°

Some snow showers may be in the area during the early morning hours on Monday. Thus, be careful during the morning commute. These snow showers will gradually transition to a mix of rain and snow during the afternoon when highs top out in the mid to upper 30s. Minor snowfall accumulations will be possible.

No, don’t freak out. We’re not talking 12″ of snow like last time…

Snow showers and snow squalls (quick, heavy bursts of snow that occasionally contain high winds) will continue into the overnight hours. It will be hard to forecast accumulations because these snow squalls will be highly localized in most cases and weather models don’t quite have the resolution to handle these events well. However, minor snow accumulations will remain possible. Lows will be around 25°.

Tuesday 2/9 – Isolated Snow Squalls – High 26° / Tues Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 16°

On Tuesday, much colder air will filter into the region. We’ll still be dealing with those snow squalls throughout the day. However, they should remain all snow due to the colder atmosphere in place. Northerly winds at the surface and aloft will lead to a high temperature of only around 26°. Again, minor snow accumulations are possible. Total snowfall accumulations will range from 0-1″+ across the region.

The snow squalls should finally diminish on Tuesday night. Mostly cloudy skies will likely remain in place. This will keep lows in the mid teens across the region.

That should wrap up this forecast. Be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG for the latest Bowling Green weather information. Have a great day!
