Okay, people. Lets all get ready for a ridiculous meteorology week.
I am already tired, and it is only Tuesday. Forecasting this week is going to be long and strenuous. Today looks quiet, and peaceful. Party cloudy skies will reign over the region as we’ll be under the influence of a quick moving high pressure system. Highs look to be in the mid 20s
Overnight, things start to get interesting. A clipper system begins to work its way into the region from the northwest, and will increase moisture across the region. Even though the atmosphere will be dry initially, it looks as though snowfall will begin after midnight, and will effect the morning commute.
Lows will fall into the low 20s.
Tomorrow: Cloudy, with snow. Highs around 31ºF. Wed. night: Gradual clearing, with lows only around 29ºF.
Well, by golly! Its gonna snow! STAY CALM.
This event won’t be a record breaker by any means, but it will be impactful because of its timing. The heaviest snowfall looks to occur near rush hour, and this will likely cause travel issues Wednesday morning.
Models have been increasing in their potential snowfall totals here. Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area from 3 am through 6 pm this evening.
A general 2-4″ of snow appears possible across the region, with some seeing 4″+. Highs will end up in the lower 30s. Overnight, we should see some gradual clearing, with lows falling into the upper 20s.
Thursday: Partly to mostly cloudy, with a high of around 34ºF. Thursday night: Clouds increasing, with wintry precip possible. Lows around 30ºF.
Now we are in the beef of the forecast. From here on out, it just gets tougher and tougher. Luckily, though, I don’t have the toughest part of the week. That would be Friday!
Thursday looks to be pretty normal. Sunshine looks to be there in the morning, with clouds increasing as moisture begins to stream northward in relation to the next weather system. Highs look to be lower because of the snowpack, in the lower to mid 30s.
Overnight, it gets crazy. A low pressure system will begin to advect moisture and precipitation into the region late Thursday night and into Friday, and it could come in any precip type. Right now, confidence is increase that some of the area will see a winter weather event. However, many details are yet to be determined. Stay tuned! Lows will fall into the lower 30s.
