A very cold morning is here to greet you on this great Monday. Temperatures are just above the single digits as of 5:30 AM. Single digit temperatures exist to the north of west of Bowling Green. 2°F was the recorded low in Hartford, KY by the Kentucky Mesonet! Be sure to start the car well before you leave, and bundle up as you leave this morning.
Cold will be the story of the day. High pressure is located to the south of the region, keeping much of the moisture at bay. However, partly cloudy skies may develop throughout the day. Highs will reach about 35° this afternoon. We’ll be watching a trough swing out of Canada throughout the day, but more on that Tuesday.
Mostly cloudy skies will be possible overnight with lows around 29°.
Tuesday – Scattered Snow Showers – High 34° / Tues Night – Mostly Clear – Low 17°
A trough will be moving into the region from the north of Tuesday. Divergence aloft will create a weak low pressure system to the north of the region. Weak lift associated with the cold front of this low pressure system will create scattered snow showers across the area. Small accumulations, generally less than an inch, can be expected. Highs will be around 34°.
Mostly clear conditions should follow the cold front. Lows will be in the mid teens.
Wednesday – Partly Cloudy – High 33° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 27°
High pressure will once again develop to the south of Bowling Green on Wednesday. This will lead to a light southerly wind, as well as partly cloudy skies. Highs will be right around freezing on Wednesday, so be sure to bundle up.
Wednesday night will bring partly cloudy skies and a low around 27°.
