Rainy Weekend With Cooler Weather On The Way!

Real-time Bowling Green radar:

Today 1/8 – Cloudy; chance of showers – High 56/Tonight – Cloudy – Low 48

Good morning, Bowling Green! It’ll be a little bit soggy this weekend with chances for rain every day and even perhaps some snow flurries on Sunday. An approaching cold front will give us cloudy skies for most of the weekend and southerly winds will keep temperatures warm until the system passes.

Surface analysis valid noon Friday (NOAA)

The rain chances will dwindle later today and tonight, but they’ll be back in full force tomorrow as the brunt of the cold front passes through the area.

Saturday 1/9 – Cloudy & rainy – High 55/ Saturday Night – Cloudy; rain possibly changing over to wintry mix – Low 35

The rain looks like it will roll in around midday Saturday and could be heavy downpours at times. Temperatures won’t start dropping until well into the evening. Watch for precipitation to turn into a wintry mix overnight.

Simulated radar valid noon Saturday (Pivotal Weather)

Not much, if any, accumulation is expected with this system as the ground temperature will still be very warm and most of the moisture will be gone by the time temperatures are cold enough for snow. Nevertheless, it would still make me happy to see some flurries!

Rain changing over to snow valid 3am Sunday (Pivotal Weather)

Sunday 1/10 – Cloudy – High 34 /Sunday Night – Partly cloudy – Low 18

The cold front will be moving on to the east by Sunday and high pressure will start to move into our region. Clouds will start decreasing throughout the day and temperatures will be pretty chilly as northerly winds pull in much colder air.

Surface temperatures valid noon Sunday (Pivotal Weather)

Expect things to be even colder for the start of the work week and we’ll see another slight chance for snow flurries on Tuesday!
