Break in the Rain for Bowling Green

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today, 10/28 – Rain Early – High 68˚ / Tonight – Chance for Sct’d Showers – Low 50˚

Good morning, Bowling Green! If you even made it out of bed this AM, I applaud you. The dreary weather over the last couple of days has definitely not made it easy.

As of 10:30 PM last night, Bowling Green recorded right around an inch and a half of rain over the course of the day Tuesday (since 12 AM). According to the Kentucky Mesonet, some areas in Kentucky saw close to three inches of rain in 24 hours! Fortunately, a brief break from the rain and clouds is in our future; however, it looks like we’ll have to make it through one more dreary day before we dry up.

A low pressure system that began in the southern states has gradually moved northeastward and strengthened over time. As this system heads towards the Great Lakes and falls in step with the upper-levels of the atmosphere (all layers of the atmosphere are doing what they need to be doing for precipitation), we will continue to see rainfall early today. Fortunately, these rain chances will decrease over the course of the day, with precipitation moving northeastward out of our area along with the low pressure.

We may see a few lone showers or thunderstorms overnight, but conditions will be dry in comparison to the rainfall we have been seeing. After highs in the upper-60s today due to southwesterly winds, temperatures will drop to right around 50°.

Thursday, 10/29 – Mostly Sunny – High 63˚ / Thursday Night – Mostly Clear & COLD – Low 38˚

Thursday is the day we’ve all been waiting for… WE’RE GOING TO SEE THE SUN! Do you remember what that looks like? Yeah, me either.

A cold front will move through early Thursday morning, with high pressure at the surface falling in behind it. These features will keep temperatures Thursday in the low to mid-60s, with plenty of sunshine! We may see a few clouds lingering in the morning, but the afternoon will surely be beautiful.

Thursday night, temperatures will be COLD, dropping into the upper-30s. So be sure to grab that sweater as you head out for any Thursday evening plans!

Friday 10/30 – Sunny – High 60˚ / Friday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 43˚

Friday will be another nice day to end the workweek with dry and sunny conditions. High pressure will move eastward as our next disturbance begins to form in the Midwest (I told you it was going to be a brief break in the rain…).

Temperatures during the day Friday will be a few degrees cooler than those on Thursday, with highs right around 60°. As clouds build ahead of the rain this weekend, lows Friday night will be around the climate normal of 43°.
