Soggy Bowling Green Weather

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 10/26 – Scattered Showers – High 64° / Tonight – Scattered Showers – Low 57°

Good morning folks! We’re waking up to some isolated showers along and north of the Kentucky/Tennessee line. However, if you look at the radar image above, you’ll notice an expansive rainshield to the south. This will continue to make it’s way north today.

Low pressure along the Louisiana Gulf Coast will also be lifting slowly northward over the next several days. High pressure to the northwest of the region, combined with the low in the south, will act as a steering mechanism for moisture flow into the region. Thus, we should be ready for rain over the next few days.

The temperature forecast for today is a little unclear. It looks like several of the models are struggling with the abundant rain showers and cloudiness, as well as the slight northeast wind around 5 to 10 mph into the region. With Kentucky Mesonet lows only dropping to the mid-50s, I’d wager our high temperature will be around 64°.

Tonight will bring continued rain chances, as well as an easterly wind around 5 mph. Lows will be around 57°.

Tuesday 10/27 – Scattered Showers – High 63° / Tue Night – Scattered Showers – Low 60°

The low pressure system to the south will continue to move north and weaken with time. However, an upper level shortwave trough may start to restrengthen and organize this low. The net result will simply mean more rain across south central Kentucky.

Scattered showers will remain likely on Tuesday. Winds will begin to shift out of the southeast around 5 to 15 mph. Overall a dreary day is on tap as temperatures will likely only reach around 63°.

Tuesday night scattered showers will continue. Wind will continue to shift more southerly over time as the low continues to strengthen and move north of the region. Lows will only drop to around 63°.

Wednesday 10/28 – Isolated AM Showers – High 67° / Wed Night – Isolated Showers – Low 47°

On Wednesday we’ll be firmly established in the warm sector of the low pressure system. The cold front associated with the low pressure system will be located to the west of the region, and the rain associated with the warm front/quasi cold front will be located to the east of the region.

Isolated morning showers will be possible. However, partly cloudy skies may be possible in the afternoon hours. This, combined with southerly winds around 10 to 15 mph, will likely lead to highs in the upper 60s.

Meager instability may develop in the wake of the sunny skies. This could lead to the development of more showers and thunderstorms overnight. As of now no severe weather is anticipated. However, after the cold front passes, lows will drop to around 47°.
