Your Fantasy Football Forecast

The NFL season is quickly approaching, which means that we get to all play fantasy football again! I am actually in a league this year, so my own forecasts will actually help me out. Anyways, many of you love fantasy sports, so this is your weekly guide to what the weather will be like for your teams. A couple weeks ago, I did an overview of the climatology of NFL cities and what to expect going into the season for them. This is the weekly form of that, game by game.

What I will do is give the game, the time and then a bit of commentary on the game itself. The link that is within the game title itself is a link to the nfl.com preview. Then I will give a brief overview of why I made the forecast I did. The gametime forecast will then follow, and I will have scale of 1-10 on the odds that the weather significantly impacts your players (1 being the least and 10 the most).

NYJ @ Miami, 8:30 AM

So….I think this is a dome. I’m not exactly sure what it is…it kinda looks like Arizona’s stadium, and it is confusing. It is also in England…

The NFL does this every year, and that makes the forecast tougher, but it’s in a dome across the sea. How nice is that!? I think The Jets continue their miracle season, and win this game.

Gametime forecast: A 100% chance of fish and chips and touchdowns. No weather impact.

NYG @ Buffalo, 12 PM

Well, this game is looking pretty nasty, but Buffalo is gonna hold up to be good.. And my stereotype of thinking they have bad weather is also looking good.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

As everyone in the east has been, Buffalo will continue to be impacted by the plume of tropical moisture that has been pumping into the eastern US in association with a deep upper level trough.

Gametime forecast: Cloudy, with scattered showers. Cool. Temps in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Weather impact: 4/10 due to scattered showers.

Carolina @ Tampa Bay, 12 PM

It is a really good thing that this game isn’t in Carolina, because it would be under water.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

It has rained an incredible amount over North and South Carolina over the past few days, and it won’t stop until tomorrow. Luckily, though, Tampa’s weather looks a lot better than it does up there.

Gametime forecast: Partly cloudy, with scattered storms being possible. Temps in the mid to upper 70s. Weather impact: 4/10 due to a possibility of storms.

Oakland @ Chicago, 12 PM

Well, this is the battle an incredibly bad Chicago team, and an Oakland team that is pretty much beating the odds. They are 2-1, and I am kinda shocked.

h/t joe.co.uk

Weather doesn’t look shocking, though. Chicago has been impacted by the same system that we have been over the past few days. However, while it is looking like rainfall won’t be around during gametime, clouds look like they may hang tough.

Gametime forecast: Cloudy, with isolated showers. Temps in the mid to upper 50s. Weather impact: 2/10.

Kansas City @ Cincinnati, 12 PM

Cincinnati is a success story, and I am amazed by it. They are 3-0, and I don’t get it.

Weather wise….eh. While still relatively under the influence of the low that has kept the region in rain and cloud cover, it is looking like there are gonna have several breaks in the clouds during the game, allowing the temps to rise adequately.

Gametime forecast: Partly to mostly cloudy, with an isolated chance of showers and temps in the lower 70s. Weather impact: 2/10.

Houston @ Atlanta, 12 PM

Dome team on dome team. This makes for a magical forecast!

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

Domes are the best things in the world because it is a controlled weather environment, and that is pretty cool. You don’t get the dynamics of the atmosphere, but you do get a pretty good guarantee that you’re gonna have a good environment for your players to play in.

Gametime forecast: An Atlanta win. No real weather impact.

Jacksonville @ Indianapolis, 12 PM

Here we go again. Another dome, and another game to play your fantasy players.

There is a point where this does get old, because there isn’t a ton to write about meteorologically. However, it makes the process speed up a bit. Here’s to domes!

Gametime forecast: Jacksonville is gonna get crushed. No weather impact.

Philadelphia @ Washington, 12 PM

Phew, a forecast in the east. That outta be fun…

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

Well, maybe it will be. It looks like Washington is gonna be locked in the cloud cover, and isolated showers. Crummy weather, for two crappy teams.

Gametime forecast: Cloudy, with showers. Temps in the upper 50s. Weather impact: 4/10 due to showers.

Cleveland @ San Diego, 3:05 PM

For San Diego standards, this actually looks like a relatively bad day to have a football game. I am legitimately shocked at what I am seeing.

It looks like there are gonna be some isolated showers and storms that try to impact the region during the game, and this will shock everyone involved. They may as well cancel the game.

Gametime forecast: Scattered storms, with temps in the lower 70s. Weather impact: 4/10 due to storms.

Minnesota @ Denver, 3:25 PM

This outta be a good game.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

It kinda makes me happy. It is looking like the game may be impacted by so showers and clouds, so that may be a problem for some of the players in this game.

Gametime forecast: Scattered showers and storms. Temps in the mid and upper 60s.

Green Bay @ San Fransisco, 3:25 PM

Green Bay outta destroy these guys.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

This game looks really good weather wise. Like, really good. Probably the best weather of any game on this NFL Sunday.

Gametime forecast: Mostly sunny, with temps in the mid 70s.

St.Louis @ Arizona, 3:25 PM

Dome. Dome. Dome. Dome. Dome. Another dome, another day.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

At least there won’t be rain effecting these players, unlike on the east coast. The players will be running around in an air conditioned, rain-free, and nice. Also: GO RAMS.

Gametime forecast: Air conditioned and nice. No weather impact.

Dallas @ New Orleans, 7:30 PM

ANOTHER DOME GAME.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

Considering how bad the weather is on the east coast, having this many dome games isn’t too bad. Its gonna be tough for some teams to play this weekend. Oh well.

Gametime forecast: Awesomeness, with a Cowboys loss. No weather impact.

Detroit @ Seattle, 7:30 PM

I don’t get the Lions. I really, really, really don’t understand them. They are so talented, and never live up to expectations. On the other sideline, they are facing a team that also, isn’t living up to expectations. Oh man.

Weather wise, this game looks very nice. No rain, nice temps. Nice non-typically Seattle.

Gametime forecast: Sunny, with temps in the mid 70s.
