Memorial Day Weekend Weather

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today, 5/23 – Mostly Sunny – High 80˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 58˚

Good Saturday morning, Bowling Green! If you’re heading out to the lake or having a cookout this weekend, plenty of nice weather will be hanging around for outdoor activities. Rain chances do come back into play Monday – but we’ll get to that a little bit later in this post.

After the chilly weather we experienced Thursday, a nice warm-up will continue today and into the rest of the weekend. Surface high pressure will keep the skies mostly sunny today, with southerly winds increasing temperatures to the 80° mark – right around average for this time of year. Today will definitely be a great day for outdoor activities, so be sure to get out and enjoy!

Temperatures Saturday night will drop into the upper 50s under partly cloudy skies.

Sunday, 5/24 – Partly Cloudy – High 85˚ / Sunday Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 67˚

Temperatures will continue to climb Sunday, as ridging takes place in the upper-atmosphere. Sunday will be warmer, as well as muggier, than Saturday with dew points approaching 70° in the afternoon. With warmer-than-normal temperatures and strong southerly winds bringing in moisture to the area, there is a chance for an isolated storm late Sunday – but don’t let that affect any plans you may have.

As of right now, Sunday looks as though it’ll remain mostly dry, with the chance of an isolated shower or storm in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to hit the mid-80s during the afternoon and remain very mild overnight, with lows in the mid to upper-60s! These warm temperatures overnight will accompany an increase in cloud cover as the next system approaches.

Memorial Day, 5/25 – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Showers & Storms – High 82˚ / Monday Night – Sct’d Showers & Storms – Low 67˚

By late Sunday and into Monday, disturbances in the atmosphere will begin to roll through Kentucky, causing an increase in storm chances that will continue for a good first half of the week. Temperatures Monday will not be as warm as those on Sunday, but strong southerly winds will provide enough moisture and instability for scattered showers and storms during the afternoon.

Memorial Day will not be a washout, but it does pose the greatest chance for thunderstorms this weekend. Temperatures should hit the low 80s Monday with lows in the upper-60s expected overnight. Continue to check in with us throughout the weekend for the latest updates on your outdoor plans. My advice: Today will be the nicest day of the weekend, so be sure to enjoy it!
