It has been a glorious day across south central Kentucky, with plentiful amounts of sunshine joining temperatures climbing well into the 60s.  Cloud cover is expected to increase as the day progresses, with scattered showers and a few storms appearing by late afternoon.

Another thing to note is that wind gusts of 30 to 40mph will be possible this afternoon.  This can be accredited to an approaching cold front and tightening pressure gradient over the area…

…the struggle is real.

The following HRRR simulated radar model loops every three hours from 3pm this afternoon until midnight.  It favors the idea of scattered activity firing up, increasing in coverage later this evening.

Wed 4/22 – Scat’d AM Showers – High 63˚ / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 41˚

We’ll keep scattered showers in the forecast through the early part of our Wednesday, with filtered rays of sunshine anticipated by afternoon.

An isolated shower will remain possible thru early evening, however, skies will clear overnight, allowing lows to tumble near 40˚.

Thu 4/23 – Mostly Sunny – High 62˚ / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 38˚

High pressure will build in from the northwest, giving us ample sunshine in the sky.  It will be cooler, with northwesterly winds of 10 to 15 mph holding afternoon highs to near 60˚.

On Thursday night, the area of high pressure will plant itself right on top of us, allowing lows to tumble to the mid/upper 30s.  It will be the coldest temperatures we’ve experienced over the past several weeks…

We look to keep things dry through the majority of our Friday, with another round of the wet stuff slated to impact south central Kentucky Friday night into Saturday.  Oh what joy, more rain is exactly what we need…
