Today, 4/1 – Sunny – High 73˚ / Tonight – Iso’d Showers – Low 53˚
Good Wednesday morning, Bowling Green! We’ve officially made it to hump day of what has been a beautiful week for Bowling Green weather. Unfortunately, this perfect spring weather will not continue for too much longer; storms and cooler temperatures are in store for the end of the week.
But first, let’s talk about today. Thanks to high pressure, more warm and sunny weather will be gracing us with its presence. So bring out your frisbees, shorts, and hammocks to take a break from school and work, and soak up some sun.
Or, if you’re just so bogged down from this snowpocalypse of a semester, at least the weather will be nice for your walk between classes or your car ride to work. Temperatures will not be hiking up quite as high they were yesterday (BG reached 79°!), but temperatures in the low-70s are a solid bet. I think I can deal.
Isolated showers are possible beginning tonight, with temperatures remaining in the 50s.
Thursday, 4/2 – Scattered Storms – High 80˚ / Thursday Night – Thunderstorms Likely – Low 62˚
Strong winds from the southwest will cause temperatures to soar once again on Thursday, with a chance for us to break the 80s mark. While the models are calling for temperatures more in the mid-70s, experience shows that strong southwesterly winds can kill a temperature forecast by many degrees. Therefore, I see the models and will raise them about 5 degrees.
These strong winds from the south will allow warm, moist arm to be pumped into the region ahead of a cold front advancing from the west. This will create an unstable environment suitable for thunderstorms beginning Thursday; showers and storms will ramp up starting in the evening and continuing into the day Friday.
As Landon mentioned in Tuesday afternoon’s post, the Storm Prediction Center has included Bowling Green in the enhanced region for storms Thursday. This will not amount to a widespread severe event, however, a chance for damaging winds and/or hail is not out of the question.
Friday, 4/3 – Showers and Storms – High 70˚ / Friday Night – Showers and Storms Ending – Low 37˚
As the cold front takes its time crossing the region, shower and storm chances will continue into Friday. Rain looks to be fairly widespread throughout the day and even into the overnight hours. While more cloud cover is in store for Friday, strong storms are still a possibility. Below is the Quantitative Precipitation Forecast valid from 7 PM Tuesday through 7 PM Friday.
Temperatures will hit right around 70° Friday, before the cold front finally swings through overnight and takes the rain with it. Lows will drop into the upper-30s Friday night, with sunny skies expected to return for our Easter weekend.
