Cloud cover will increase once again late tonight, as our next weather maker approaches from the southwest. Lows will tumble to the upper 40s.

Thursday 3/12 – Mostly Cloudy; Rain Chances Increasing – High 64˚ / Thursday Night – Rain Showers – Low 56˚

A Gulf Low system will bring ample amounts of the wet stuff to close out the workweek.  The good news is that Thursday morning looks to start out dry.

As this low cuts a northward path toward the area, warm temperatures and moisture-rich air will advect into the viewing area, allowing rain chances to increase substantially between late afternoon and early evening.

The warm front associated with the aforementioned low will slice through the area Thursday night, shifting winds out of the south by the early Friday morning.  This is displayed on the surface model below, valid for 7pm Thursday night:

Tomorrow, temperatures look to be similar to today’s with highs in the low 60s. As for the low, temperatures will drop only into the upper 50s before the warm front passes, causing temperatures to rise once again during the early morning hours Friday.

Friday 3/13 – Rain Showers – High 66˚ / Friday Night – Cloudy; Showers Likely – Low 53˚

Rain showers will continue Friday and into Saturday before the low pressure system finally tracks northeast and a cold front swings through.

For the time being, the workweek looks to end on a very rainy note, with temperatures hitting the mid-60s. Basically, this week has brought us great temperatures, but with a side of rain… There’s always a catch.

When it’s all said and done, this system could bring 1-2″ of rain to the area, as displayed on the model above. There is some good news, however: we should be seeing a dry spell Saturday night through Tuesday as high pressure builds in. Right in time for WKU students to return to school…
