Friday Afternoon Bowling Green Weather Update

This Afternoon – Sunny; Cold – High 29° / Tonight – Clear – Low 15°

3pm 29˚ – 6pm 27˚ – 9pm 23˚ – 12am 20˚ – 3am 17˚– 6am 15˚

It’s nice to see the abundant sunshine today as we wrap up the work week. Despite afternoon high temperatures topping out below the freezing mark, all of this sunshine has helped to melt some of the snow cover across southern Kentucky.

Surface high pressure to the southwest will help to keep skies clear during the remainder of the afternoon and through the overnight hours. Clear skies, light winds, and abundant snow cover will once again allow temperatures to plummet tonight with lows reaching the middle teens.

Saturday – Sunny – High 46° / Sat Night – Mostly Clear – Low 29°

Surface high pressure will continue to keep our weather calm tomorrow. Expect sunny skies to melt a lot of the remaining snow pack tomorrow.

Fortunately, the upper-level trough that has been responsible for our colder than normal conditions will move farther east tomorrow, allowing for warmer temperatures to infiltrate the region. High temperatures will reach the 40s tomorrow with lows falling back into the 20s overnight.

Sunday – Partly Cloudy – High 50° / Sun Night – Mostly Cloudy; Stray Shower Possible – Low 33°

Warmer air will continue to move into the region on Sunday as the jet stream becomes more zonal. High temperatures will make a run at 50º under partly cloudy skies by Sunday afternoon and any remaining snow cover should have no trouble melting by then.

Skies will become mostly cloudy on Sunday night as moisture increases to our south. A stray shower cannot be ruled out at this point although most of the precipitation should stay south of the KY/TN border. Rain chances look to increase heading into next week, so get out and enjoy the calm weather this weekend.

That’s all I’ve got for this afternoon. Have a great weekend and be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX on Twitter for real-time weather updates.
