The 3rd graders at Bristow Elementary played host to the Wx Or Not crew on Tuesday. They are currently participating in a very neat Understanding Language program with Stanford University. As part of this program, they are studying extreme weather events.
These events include hurricanes, blizzards, floods, severe weather & tornadoes. The students were separated into groups according to which particular weather event they were assigned.
Once separated, members of the Wx Or Not team, along with WKU meteorology major Tori Hampton, led presentations on these weather phenomena. Each presentation was followed by a Q & A session.
The students will soon be combining their knowledge and ideas to design structures that will withstand these extreme weather events. We had a great time visiting, and hope to make it back soon. A special thanks to Ms. Laura Briggs for the invite!
