Soggy Bowling Green Weather Ahead

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

 This Afternoon – Partly Sunny; Chilly – High 44º / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Showers/Sleet — Low 35º

3pm 44º – 6pm 41º – 9pm 38º – 12am 37º – 3am 36º – 6am 35º

It’s been another cloudy and cool day for Bowling Green weather as temperatures really struggled to hit the lower 40’s this afternoon. However, there is some good news. Surface high pressure will move across the Ohio Valley today while bringing in some drier air. I expect the sunshine to make a brief appearance this afternoon before more clouds work back into southern Kentucky this evening.

Highs will only climb into the low-mid 40’s before cooling back off into the 30’s tonight. A few scattered showers will be possible late tonight/early tomorrow morning as some sleet could mix in with this rain. The good news is no accumulation is expected and will remain rather brief.

Thu – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Showers – High 46º / Thu Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Showers – Low 44º

The gloom and doom pattern will march on as we tackle Thursday. Mostly cloudy skies prevail once again as southwesterly flow begins to ramp up. Moisture will work back into the region as surface high pressure weakens and pushes eastward. A low pressure system will develop to our southwest while a warm front begins to lift northward from the Deep South.

As moisture increases throughout Thursday, I believe we’ll squeeze out some shower activity by the afternoon/evening hours. Isolated-scattered showers will break out and work northeastward across portions of the Commonwealth. Regardless, amounts look rather light as we’ll call this the appetizer for the more soaking rainfall we’ll see Friday and into Friday night.

Temperatures will reach the mid, even upper 40’s for highs despite the cloudy conditions as showers will be possible through the evening hours. Lows will only drop a few degrees overnight before warmer air arrives and temperatures begin increasing early Friday morning. Regardless, if you have any afternoon/evening plans or errands, be sure to pack the umbrella with you for the ride.

Fri – Mostly Cloudy; Showers Likely – High 59º / Fri Night – Mostly Cloudy; Rain Likely – Low 53º

As we look to wrap up the work week, we’ll do so on a wet note. Low pressure system and its associated warm front will ride northeastward through Friday as ample amounts of moisture moves with it. Precipitable water values will rise near 1.3-1.4” Friday night as some rain could be heavy at times.

Models show good agreement for a bulk of the rainfall arriving Friday night here in southern Kentucky. However, up until this point, scattered showers will be a good bet and could put a damper on any parade festivities late Friday afternoon. Precipitation forecast amounts through Saturday morning continue to show a moderate rainfall event across southern Kentucky.

Temperature-wise, we’ll warm up quite nicely Friday afternoon. Don’t look for much of drop for overnight lows as warmer air will remain in place. Temperatures will only dip into the lower 50’s Friday night with ongoing showers into early Saturday morning.
