Good morning, temperatures are currently in the lower 50s across the region to start our Thursday off. We are starting to see some clouds build into the area along a stationary front draped from Kansas to northern Georgia. This stationary front won’t move much over the next several days and will help bring multiple rounds of rainfall into our area.

We will see clouds continue to build today with high temperatures reaching for 80º this afternoon. A few isolated showers may impact our area today, but the majority of rainfall won’t begin until tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms look to increase in coverage overnight with up to a quarter inch of rainfall possible. Lows will drop into the lower 60s.

Tomorrow looks to be a washout as multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue to impact us tomorrow. Another quarter inch of rainfall is possible tomorrow, and highs will only reach the lower to middle 70s thanks to abundant cloud cover.

Surface winds will turn to the northeast on Friday night which will bring in a bit of colder air. Overnight lows look to drop into the middle 50s.

A nocturnal low-level jet will increase flow across the region Friday night and increase our rain coverage. Rainfall could be heavy at times and rainfall amounts of 0.5-1″ are possible overnight.

Rain chances will continue into Saturday although it does look likely we will see a bit of a lull in precipitation during the day. Northerly surface winds will keep our high temperatures in the middle to upper 60s and we can expect another day with overcast skies.

Rain coverage will ramp up once again on Saturday night as a quick shortwave swings through our area. This will once again help to produce rainfall totals of up to 1″.

The bad news is that rain chances will stick around into early next week as this stationary front does not move much. Early model guidance is suggesting that total rainfall amounts from today until next Tuesday could be around 4-6″ which is very impressive.
