Winter Off to Fast Start in Alaska

Winter has really made its entrance in Fairbanks, Alaska over the past several days. A system moved through central Alaska this weekend and brought 2.8″ of snow to Fairbanks on Saturday. This was the first snowfall over 1″ in Fairbanks this season.

Another storm is expected to bring Fairbanks around 2″ of snow today. If you travel a few hundred miles north of Fairbanks, blizzard warnings are in effect for the towns of Coldfoot and Arctic Village. Up to a foot of snow is expected over the next 36 hours with gusty winds helpting to create whiteout conditions at times.
