EF-1 Tornado Confirmed in Marshall County

A line of storms pushed through western Kentucky overnight and produced severe weather in many locations. The folks from the NWS Paducah office conducted a storm survey just south of Benton, Kentucky today and found EF-1 tornado damage in Marshall County.

“EF-1 TORNADO SOUTH SIDE OF BENTON. PEAK WIND 105 MPH.
PATH LENGTH HALF MILE. PATH WIDTH 125 YARDS. TORNADO
TOUCHED DOWN ON SOUTH SIDE OF BENTON. TIRE BUSINESS WAS
DESTROYED WITH LOSS OF ROOF AND LARGE PORTION OF A BLOCK
WALL. 2 ADDITIONAL BUILDINGS HAD WALL AND ROOF DAMAGE. 2
HOMES HAD FASCIA, SIDING AND SHINGLE DAMAGE. 2 GARAGES
LOST SOME SHINGLES. A CHURCH HAD SOME SHATTERED WINDOWS.”

At this time it is unknown if further storm surveys will be conducted.
