A heavy hail storm hit Tuscany, Italy on Friday, coating the Italian roads in a blanket of white. Radar imagery shows the storm starting off the west coast, before growing in strength and maxing out over the Tuscan region. The extreme hail storm caused down trees, power outages, and school closings. In Florence, the storm is reported to have lasted ten minutes, starting around 1:30 pm local time; as many as 50 injuries have been reported as a result of the storm (Capital Weather Gang).

Florence is a city known for its rich history and artwork, and many of the city’s museums, including the world-renowned Uffizi Gallery, were closed down on Friday to check for damages.
