Wednesday’s Bowling Green Weather Update

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

This Afternoon – Mostly Sunny; Hot & Humid – High 92º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy; Mild – Low 72º

3pm 92º – 6pm 89º – 9pm 82º – 12am 77º – 3am 74º – 6am 72º

It’s another hot & humid afternoon across Bowling Green. Thermometer readings have soared into the upper 80’s, lower 90’s across southern Kentucky with heat indices in the mid 90’s. We can thank the upper level ridging and surface high pressure that continues to grip the regions weather for the warm and uncomfortable conditions.

A weak surface cold front will continue to edge southward across the state through tonight while bringing folks well to our north a few spotty showers and storms. It does appear that most activity will stay to our north as the ridge wins out. However, a slightly better chance for some development will arrive throughout our Thursday afternoon. Otherwise, look for another calm night with mild lows in the lower 70’s.

Thu – Mostly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 90º / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy; Muggy – Low 71º

As mentioned previously, a weak surface cold front will continue its track southward across the state for Thursday while the upper level ridging begins to weaken out. This boundary will provide a focal point for some isolated shower and storm development throughout the afternoon and early evening hours. Any storm activity will remain widely scattered in nature with main threats consisting of brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

Not bad… right?

The aforementioned front will track southward through the overnight hours Thursday as any storm activity from early on will diminish. Look for another quiet night for Bowling Green weather as lows dip into the lower 70’s under partly cloudy skies.

Fri – Mostly Sunny; Hot & Humid – High 92º / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy, Warm – Low 71º

As Friday arrives, the region will be somewhat in a lull. Upper level ridging will continue to breakdown and work towards the eastern coast as our next system begins to take shape. A low pressure system and its associated warm front will lift northeastward across the area and engulf much of the Ohio Valley Region. In return, temperatures will be hot as highs reach the lower 90’s once again by Friday afternoon.

One thing is for certain, it will be a scorcher. The heat and humidity will stick around through Friday night and the first part of the weekend. We’ll see some cloud cover begin to build in from our west later Friday evening leading to partly cloudy skies through the overnight hours. Otherwise, kick back and enjoy. College football officially kicks off this weekend. No need to go anywhere!

Go ahead, dance it out.
