The Bowling green weather continues to show its good side for our Friday as plenty of sunshine and warmth has taken over. The surface high pressure will trek eastward towards the Mid-Atlantic region this evening as winds begin to shift from our south. This explains the slightly warmer and muggier feel to the air as we begin our climb towards seasonable conditions.
Looking ahead into the evening hours, our weather will remain very nice. We’ll see a few clouds build in from our west as temperatures begin their descent into the 70’s. Overnight lows will be a touch warmer than the previous night with temperatures in the lower 60’s.
Sat – Mostly Sunny; Nice – High 90º / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy; Mild – Low 69º
The first part of our weekend looks great. Mostly sunny skies will prevail as southerly winds really play into our weather. Highs will reach the upper 80’s to right around the 90 degree mark as warm and muggy conditions finally make a return.
Low level moisture will continue streaming northward throughout the day as our next system gathers some steam and works into the mid-Mississippi Valley. We should remain dry despite a stray pop up shower late Saturday night. Otherwise, look for mild overnight lows with temperatures in the upper 60’s.
In other words….
Sun– Partly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 91º / Sun Night – Mostly Cloudy, Sct’d Storms – Low 71º
Sunday appears to be the beginning of an unsettled weather pattern for southern Kentucky. Southerly winds will continue to crank up our temperatures and moisture throughout the day as the atmosphere grows more unstable. A progressive short wave will work eastward across the Ohio Valley Region as rain and storm chances really begin to ramp up by the evening and overnight hours.
A look at the precipitable water values shows some impressive numbers as values climb towards 2.2”. That simply shows one juicy atmosphere. Along the surface, a low pressure and its associated warm front will lift northeastward while engulfing much of our area. This will provide the spark for scattered storm develop into the afternoon and evening hours.
While no severe weather is expected, some storms could congeal into clusters providing torrential downpours, gusty winds and dangerous lightning. Despite the stormy evening, overnight lows will remain mild with temperatures in the lower 70’s.
