The United States will take on Germany at 11am CST/noon EST today in Recife, Brazil. The teams will play at Arena Pernambuco at 1pm local time, as Recife is one hour ahead of the eastern time zone. Even though Recife sits less than 600 miles south of the equator, this is the farthest south that the U.S. has played a game.
Recife has a very similar climate to when the United States played their first game in Natal. Recife sits on the Atlantic Ocean and has a tropical monsoon climate where the city averages ~97 inches of rain of rain per year. Temperatures stay warm year-round and there is a wet and dry season.
June and July sit in the heart of the wet season, when the city sees most of its precipitation. Recife is the wettest of the host cities during this time of year.

On average, Recife receives 15.3 inches of rain during the month of June. Their average high temperature this time of year is 84° with an average low temperature of 71°.
Unfortunately, Recife will not be spared from the rain chances today. Soccer fans woke up to scenes of flooded streets earlier this morning:
Currently Recife is seeing cloudy skies with rain pouring over the area. The latest infrared satellite image shows clouds and rain directly over Recife.
A few fans are battling flooded streets to attempt to make it to the game.

Referees are going to have to check the field in a few hours to judge if the field is playable. Light easterly winds will continue to pump moisture onshore throughout the day and the GFS likes the idea of scattered thunderstorms during the game.
Another issue players will have to deal with once again is muggy conditions. Temperatures during the game will be in the lower 80s with dew points in the middle 70s which will make things very humid. If the rain is still ongoing by the start of the game, we will see temperatures hold in the 70s.
So here is what you can expect during the game today:
Hopefully you are able to watch the game today and help cheer on the U.S. to advance to the knockout stage. Go USA!
