Storm Chances Prevail

Real Time Regional Radar:

This Afternoon – Mostly Cloudy; Iso’d Storms – High 87º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d Storms – Low 68º

3pm 87º – 6pm 84º – 9pm 79º – 12am 74º – 3am 70º – 6am 68º

A stationary boundary will continue to sag southward across southern Kentucky keeping Bowling Green under the gun for isolated showers and storms. Best time for activity will remain during the peak heating hours this afternoon and early evening. While no severe weather is anticipated, any pop-up storm will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning.

Look for most activity to die down into the evening hours with the loss of daytime heating. However, with the boundary hanging around the area, we’ll keep a slight chance for an isolated storm or two. Otherwise, conditions will remain calm under mostly cloudy skies.

Fri – Partly Sunny; Sct’d Storms – High 87º / Fri Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 69º

The end of the work week will mimic our Thursday in many ways. The aforementioned boundary will hang around as winds begin to turn more southerly while increasing moisture across the region.

Partly sunny skies through tomorrow afternoon will only fuel development as scattered storms will be possible for Bowling Green. Much like Thursday, no severe weather will be expected. However, brief heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning will be possible. You guys know the drill by now.

By the evening hours, activity for scattered storms will continue. Another upper level shortwave will work across the region as additional lift will be supplied. This will keep storms chances alive through the overnight hours and into the first part of the weekend. Overnight temperatures will remain mild as lows drop into the upper 60’s under mostly cloudy skies.

Sat – Partly Sunny; Sct’d Storms – High 86º / Sat Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 71º

The weekend will kick off on a warm and muggy note as temperatures rise into the mid 80’s. Southerly winds will continue to pump in plenty of moisture across the area as a shortwave works through the region. Like the past couple of days, Saturday will be nearly identical. Storms will develop in the afternoon hours with activity decreasing in coverage by late evening. However, the latest model data suggest more widespread coverage Saturday afternoon for storms.

Ugghhh….

Once again, storms that develop are not expected to reach severe limits with primary threats remaining brief heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and vivid lightning. Activity will persist into the evening hours with overnight lows in the lower 70’s.
