Rain Chances Linger

Real Time Radar:

Today 6/24 – Scattered Thunderstorms – High 86° / Tonight – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 70°

Today we’ll see an upper level trough swing through the region. We’ll also see a surface low pressure system take place along the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. This will place us in the warm sector of the storm system, allowing warm, moist air to dominate the weather again today. Thunderstorms are expected, some of which could contain heavy rain and vivid lightning. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

We should see a general decrease in thunderstorms in the overnight hours as the trough moves to the east of the region. However, we still can’t rule out some isolated showers and thunderstorms across the region. Lows will dip down into the upper 60s to low 70s.

Wednesday 6/25 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 86° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 67°

On Wednesday we’ll see the area begin to clear out as the trough continues to depart to the east. The trough will take with it some of the moisture and hot temperatures, leading to more stable air in place. Thus, we’ll expect morning showers and thunderstorms to give way to partly cloudy skies in the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will be in the mid 80s. Yeah, that’s something we can all cheer for…

As more mid level ridging builds into place on Wednesday evening, we should remain rain free for most of the evening. Conditions should remain partly cloudy in the overnight hours. Decreased cloud cover will allows lows to dip into the upper 60s across the region.

Thursday 6/26 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 88° / Thur Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 71°

On Thursday our winds will be back out of the southwest once again, allowing more warm, moist air to surge into the region. Due to this surge of an unstable airmass, our chance of pop-up thunderstorms will once again make its return to the region. The storms should remain below severe limits and isolated in nature. Heavy rain will accompany the stronger storms due to a highly moist airmass.

In general, thunderstorms should decrease in intensity and coverage in the overnight hours as we lose energy from the sun. Partly cloudy skies will overtake the region overnight as lows dip down into the lower 70s.
