Today 6/23 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 91° / Tonight – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 73°
Today will feature weather much like yesterday. We’ll be situated just to the east of a mid level trough, which will strengthen our flow from the southwest. Thus, we’ll expect temperatures and moisture to be on the rise through much of Monday. With the increase in moisture, we could see some afternoon showers and thunderstorms across the region. Heavy rain and vivid lightning is the main concern. However, a few storms may pulse up to severe limits with damaging wind and small hail. The SPC seems to agree.
Expect a general decrease in thunderstorm activity in the overnight hours. However, upper level support will allow for a few lingering showers and thunderstorms. Expect lows to end up in the low to mid 70s.
Tuesday 6/24 – Scattered Thunderstorms – High 87° / Tue Night – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 69°
On Tuesday we’ll see a bit more low to mid level lift across the region as the aforementioned trough moves eastward. The lift, coupled with high Precipitable Water values will lead to increased coverage of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Any storms that form will be capable of producing very heavy rainfall, which could lead to some flash flooding concerns. Strong downdraft winds will also be a concern with storms.
Expect a general decrease in thunderstorms as we move into the overnight hours as we lose some heating from the sun. Isolated thunderstorms will remain possible with lows dropping into the upper 60s and low 70s.
Wednesday 6/25 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 86° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 70°
On Wednesday, a warm front will lift north through the region which will provide us with another chance of isolated thunderstorms. If any thunderstorms do form, they will likely form in the afternoon hours. No severe weather is expected with these, however any storm that forms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall and vivid lightning.
Thunderstorm coverage will decrease across the region on Wednesday night as we lose energy from the sun. You can expect partly cloudy skies to build in overnight with lows in the low 70s.
