Today 5/18 – Partly Sunny  – High 70° / Tonight – Clear – Low 46°

6am  46° – 9am  54° – 12pm  64° – 3pm  69° – 6pm  67° – 9pm 60°

A chilly start to the day today will give way to clearing skies and the much needed sunshine to kick off a warming trend that will continue into the week ahead.

With overnight lows in the mid and lower 40’s across the area, lingering cloud cover throughout the morning will continue to diminish as temperatures should climb very close to the 70 degree mark. Winds throughout the day should remain in the 5-10 mph range out of the northeast as high pressure to our southwest slowly begins to build into the region.

Model data suggests that the trough that’s been pestering us with below average  temperatures and cloud cover will be making its exit to our northeast and will only pester those fishing off in the Atlantic.

Disclaimer: I’m going with a high of 70 today, mostly because I think it could happen, and speaking for the rest of us, would like to see a high that’s above a value with a 6 in front of it. NAM guidance isn’t cooperating on this notion though, but May the sun shine down on us all.

Monday 5/19– Partly Cloudy  – High 78° / Monday Night – Clear – Low 58°

Sunday night and Monday morning will still be chilly. However, ridging building into the area from the west into the next few days, temperatures will be on a rebound and will be back into the 80’s by Tuesday.

Monday will be a transition day for us with temperatures just knocking on the door of 80 degrees but, for the most part, will likely remain in the upper 70’s across the area. Winds will shift and begin coming from the southeast as high pressure moves east which will help to push cooler air out of the area and also bring some higher dewpoints as well.

Any cloud cover that develops should remain on the fair side and only be a sign of great weather. Why am I so lucky to get to share this information? Below is an image displaying our surface weather map for Monday by the Weather Prediction Center.

Sunday and Monday both look great. No immediate weather red flag is going up anywhere that I can see. So, folks, the weather is playing nice the next few days. Clear to partly cloudy skies and low 80’s for highs in our near future.

If you don’t get outside and enjoy it you can only blame yourself. At least get outside and give someone a high five for the sunshine and tell em have a great day.
