Friday Afternoon Update

Real-time Regional Radars:

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

This Afternoon – Iso’d Showers & Storms, Mostly Cloudy – High  77˚ / Tonight – Storms Likely – Low 63˚

3pm 77˚ – 6pm 72˚ – 9pm 70˚ – 12am 68˚ – 3am 66˚ – 6am 63˚

Good afternoon.  We are currently seeing a break in the showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts form this morning were generally less than a quarter inch. We’ll see mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the middle to upper 70s throughout the rest of the afternoon.

Aside from some isolated precipitation, our next chance at rain will be tonight. We will see another area of showers and thunderstorms move into the area.

The nocturnal timing of this precipitation will limit the amount of energy available for these storms work with, which suggests our severe threat will be pretty low. Regardless, a few storms could be on the strong side tonight.  The SPC has placed our area just outside of a slight (think enhanced) risk for inclement weather through this time.

The best chance for severe storms is to our west. Areas of convection that are able to fire in this environment could contain damaging winds and hail. These showers & storms look to put down around 0.25-0.5″ of rain in addition to this morning’s precipitation. Rain will continue overnight and linger into our Saturday morning.

Sat – Scat’d Showers & Storms – High 78˚ /  Sat Night – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d Storms – Low 63˚

On Saturday, we will have to deal with leftover showers and storms that will be exiting our area to the east. Rainfall amounts look to be less than a quarter inch but there could be some higher amounts in any thunderstorms. An upper level ridge will try to build into our area later in the day, which means we could see some clearing by later in the afternoon.

Otherwise, temperatures will reach the upper 70s once again, with lows staying pretty mild in the 60s. By Saturday evening, skies should be partly cloudy, but an isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out.

Sun – Partly Cloudy; Scat’d PM Storms – High 84 ˚ / Sun Night – Iso’d Storms – Low 66 ˚

Our friendly upper level ridge will make for a pretty nice start to Sunday. We will only see a few clouds early in the day, and southerly winds will make for high temperatures in the middle 80s.

By Sunday afternoon, daytime heating will help some thunderstorms pop up across the area. These will gradually weaken as we head into Sunday night. Bad news is, more rounds of precipitation look to impact our area early next week as well.
