A cold front is positioned to our west and is moving in our direction. This will increase our rain and thunderstorm chances tonight and early Friday morning. Here’s a sneak peek at what the surface map could look like at Midnight tonight.

Although the cold front will be along the Mississippi River, there will likely be widespread precipitation out ahead of it. The precipitation will be in the form of rain and thunderstorms. Here’s what the Hi-Res NAM Simulated Reflectivity looks like at Midnight.

These storms may be strong in nature, with gusty winds in excess of 40mph. Some storms may pulse up to severe limits every once in a while, however, widespread severe weather is not anticipated.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Bowling Green on the fringe of an enhanced risk of severe weather tonight. You will have a 15% probability of seeing severe weather within 25 miles of you tonight:

Friday – Clearing after Morning; High 77˚ / Friday Night – Clear; Low 51°

The cold front will depart from the region Friday morning. High pressure will move into the region behind the exiting cold front, giving us improving conditions. Cloudy skies should gradually clear out and temperatures will warm nicely into the upper 70s.

Saturday- Beautiful Weather; Mostly Clear; High 79° / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy; Low 54°

We’ll have an enjoyable Saturday as well. Beautiful weather is in store with mostly clear conditions allowing for highs near 80°. We’ll see a little increase in clouds as our next weather maker forms in the Plains. Our next shot at rain and thunderstorms will be on Sunday and Sunday night. Some strong to severe storms cannot be ruled out for Monday, but stay tuned.
