TGIF…March Madness style.

Good afternoon, a great Friday is shaping up with a Sweet 16 matchup between Louisville and Kentucky slated for tonight. Mother Nature didn’t seem to get the memo as more rain is on the way tonight.

A cold front is taking it’s time crossing the state this afternoon, which will allow for another area of low pressure to move northeast along the boundary tonight. Currently we are in a lull between rounds of precipitation and temperatures are hanging steady in the low to middle 60s. Cloud cover is expected to break up slightly allowing for a few peeks of sunshine later this afternoon.

Our next round of showers and storms will arrive later this evening and continue into Saturday. Scattered showers are possible early, with heavier showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms arriving after 11 tonight. If you are heading home from somewhere after watching the big game, you might have to drive home in some of these showers and storms so use caution.

The SPC has removed us from the 5%  risk of severe weather for tonight in their afternoon update, but some of the stronger thunderstorms tonight could still produce some heavy rain and gusty winds. Most areas look to receive around a half inch of rain tonight with locally heavier amounts in thunderstorms. Here is a look at what the latest run of the NAM model thinks the radar will look like tonight from 10pm tonight until 10am Saturday:

Sat – Scat’d AM Showers, Decreasing Clouds – High 53˚ / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 33˚

We will see the area of showers and storms head east tomorrow morning and most of the rain should end by noon. It is possible we will see a few isolated showers tomorrow afternoon before the cold front finally clears our area.

As that cold front pushes east, clouds will hang on for most of the day before clearing out by tomorrow evening. This cold front will send temperatures crashing throughout the day tomorrow. By tomorrow night, the low temperature will fall to near freezing under partly cloudy skies.

Sun – Sunny & Pleasant – High 61˚ / Sun Night – Clear – Low 37˚

Conditions will improve on Sunday, as a ridge pushes into our area. Temperatures will make a run at 60 degrees under partly cloudy skies. The warmer temperatures look like they will stick around into the beginning of next week, and a few days in the 70s is not out of the question.

We will continue to monitor tonight’s showers and storms and for more frequent updates this evening check out @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX on Twitter. That’s all I have for this afternoon, try and stay dry as you root on your team in the big game tonight.
