Beautiful Weather Today, Not So Beautiful Tomorrow

This Afternoon – Mostly Sunny – High 50˚/ Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 28˚

3pm 50˚~ 6pm 41˚ ~ 9pm 36˚ ~ 12am 31˚ ~ 3am 29˚

What a beautiful day that’s shaped up for our area.  Temperatures are rising quickly, and we may end up making a run at 50˚ by late this afternoon.  An upper-level ridge will keep our skies mostly clear for the remainder of the day and into tonight.  Hopefully you’ve enjoyed today’s beautiful weather, because tomorrow’s weather will have you questioning why Mother Nature keeps teasing us.

Fri 2/14- Scattered Rain and Snow Showers – High 40˚/ Fri Night – Isolated Rain and Snow showers before midnight – Low 21˚

no more snow

Many of you probably wish you had one of these signs to place in your yard with the way this winter has gone.  However, on Friday we’ll have yet another chance at light snow.  A shortwave will drop from the northwest tomorrow morning, bringing a mixture of rain and snow showers to the area. The track of this disturbance gives southern Kentucky around 0.25″ of precipitation, but temperatures will simply be too warm for any shot at a major snow.

Precipitation will continue as a scattered mix of rain and snow throughout the afternoon.  The upper levels of the atmosphere look to be very cold tomorrow, with a very shallow layer of warm air right at the surface.  This will allow a changeover to snow sometime tomorrow afternoon, but above-freezing temperatures will cut down on any possible accumulations during that time.

By tomorrow evening, cold air will be streaming in from the north, causing our area to drop below 32 degrees.  This will allow any continuing snow showers to accumulate, but the bulk of the moisture will have moved east by this point.  Most accumulations should occur after temps drop below freezing, and should be in the dusting – 1″ range, if anything at all.  Areas to the north that experience a quicker temperature drop have the highest chance of seeing accumulations closer to an inch.

Sat 2/15 – Partly Sunny – High 40˚/ Sat Night – Mostly Cloudy – Flurries Possible – Low 31˚

Saturday looks to be another pleasant day as an upper level ridge starts to build over our area from the west. High temperatures on Saturday look to reach around 40 degrees under mostly clear skies. A weak shortwave will be dropping over northern Kentucky from the northwest on Saturday night. All of the moisture looks to be well north of here, but cloud cover will increase  with a chance of a few flurries Saturday night as the disturbance passes to our north.

That is all for this afternoon, enjoy the rest of this beautiful Thursday. For more frequent updates, be sure to follow @Wx_Or_Not and @WarrenCountyWx.
