Monday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Partly Sunny – High 28˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 10˚

3pm 28˚ ~ 6pm 23˚ ~ 9pm 19˚ ~ 12am 16˚ ~ 3am 15˚ ~ 6am 11˚

We made it through this morning unscathed by snowfall.  Although radar returns were impressive, dry lower levels gobbled up all the moisture before it could reach the ground.  Outside of a few flurries, we received a whole lot of nothing.

The good news is that this disturbance is now well to our southeast, with cloud cover breaking up across the region.  Here’s a look at how the current surface conditions are shaping up:

Expect rays of sunshine to be present throughout the afternoon.  This won’t do much to combat temperatures in the mid – upper 20s, but it will be a welcomed sight, nevertheless.  Skies should continue gradually clear overnight, as high pressure builds in from the northwest.

Tues – Partly Sunny – High 31˚ / Tues Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 18˚

Canadian high pressure will sustain itself over our proximity, providing a mix of sun & clouds to go along with another day of cold conditoins.  Temps are forecast to rebound into the lower 30s, however, northerly winds will produce wind chills tomorrow morning near 0˚…*EYE ROLL*  Outside of that, nothing to see here.  Dress to fight the cold; turn on the seat warmers in the car; keep the coffee warm.

Wed – Partly Cloudy – Iso’d Snow Showers – High 35˚ / Wed Night – Cloudy – Low 20˚

Wednesday will bring with it our potential weather maker.  Chances look slim, but we could see a few flurries/light snow showers flying around as a result.

I’ll give you a moment to get that *sigh* out of the way.

Models are agreeing on a system intensifying to our south, however, the big question that remains is how far north the precip from this weather maker will make it.  The GFS model below is valid for 12pm Wed, and keeps the precip pushed to our south:

GFS Precip Type Model Valid 6pm Wed
GFS Precip Type Model Valid 6pm Wed

The NAM agrees with this, however, the Euro likes the idea of bringing it into the southern tier of the Bluegrass.  At this point in time, many questions are still in place regarding this weather maker.  I won’t dive into any more details, but I will say this does not look like a seriously event, if we even get anything at all.

That’s all I’ve for now.  Be sure to stay connected to @WarrenCountyWx & @Wx_Or_Not for the latest weather information.  Have a great day, and thanks for reading.
