**Winter Weather Advisory for Butler, Logan, Simpson, Warren, and Edmonson County until 6am Wednesday morning**

Difficult forecast continues to take shape across south central Kentucky, folks.  I’ve received numerous reports of rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow across the entire coverage area.  This precipitation is expected to continue a northeast track, enveloping a good chunk of the entire state by late this afternoon.  Here’s a look at the current setup…lots of the wet stuff on the way:

Surface Model Valid 3pm 2/4/14
Surface Model Valid 2pm 2/4/14

Temperature profiles are hanging right around the freezing threshold, making this a very tricky setup.  From here on out, this is a nowcast event, where we meteorologists throw the models out, and base everything off of reports and observations.

Roadways are starting to become slick to the north and west of Bowling Green, where they still have a reasonable amount of snow left on the ground from Sunday.  This mix of sleet/freezing rain/rain will continue through this afternoon and into tonight, raising concerns for the evening commute.  If you’re traveling, please do so with caution.  Speedy agrees:

I’ll be monitoring temp values very closely as we progress from here on out.  If we continue to fall, adjustments to the forecast will be needed.  I do not think this will be the case.  Minor sleet/snow accumulations will be possible, along with ice amounts of up to .10-.25″.  Again, this is most likely to occur along and northwest of Bowling Green, where temps will be right at/just below freezing.

Those located closer to the Ohio River could see more, with ice accretion topping .25-.30″.  Another concern for the majority of the area looks to be heavy rain, as values could top 1-3″ by the end of this event Wednesday morning.

That’s all for the time being, friends.  Stay in touch with me @Wx_Or_Not for more frequent information.  I’ll be updating from there through the rest of today and tonight.  If you have reports, please get them to me there.  Stay dry, and be safe!  Thanks for reading.
