It’s Friday, y’all.

Today 1/17 – Scat’d Snow Showers, Breezy – High 28˚ / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 17˚

**Winter Weather Advisory for Butler and Edmonson County until 6pm**

6am 29˚ ~ 9am 25˚ ~ 12pm 26˚ ~ 3pm 26˚ ~ 6pm 23˚  ~ 9pm 22˚

I have received several reports of slick roadways across south central Kentucky this morning.  Please drive carefully on the morning commute.  Isolated to scattered snow showers are forecast to be present across the region today.  This activity will be escorted by bitter temperatures that won’t get out of the upper 20s.

The RAP simulated radar model below is valid from 6am – 12pm today in 3-hour increments.  It should give you a better idea of how this system will behave.  Notice the sporadic swaths of snow (blue coloration):

RAP Simulated Radar 6am - 12pm

Dress for winter today, friends.  Windchill values will be in the teens, as westerly winds of 10-20mph remain in pace across the region.  This could reduce visibility when coinciding with snow showers.

Significant accumulations are not expected, however, scattered snow swaths could create light accumulations (dusting – 1″), which could lead to slick roadways.  Again, use caution on the morning commute.  Those located to the north of Bowling Green in Butler and Edmonson County will have the best opportunity to see accumulation.

Again, the snow will be sporadic, resulting in a variety of amounts for locations across the region.  Some may see nothing, while others may see up to .5 – 1″.  This weather maker will carry similar characteristics to the one we dealt with on Wednesday.

Sat – partly Sunny – High 39˚ / Sat Night – Scat’d Snow Showers – Low 26˚

A lull in disturbances should produce a mix of sun and clouds to start out our Saturday, with winds shifting back out of the south, which will send temps back into the upper 30s.

Another clipper system will cut a path southeast across the Bluegrass State on Saturday night, reintroducing those annoying, sporadic snow showers to the outlook.  As far as accumulations are concerned,we might see minor amounts at best.  Nothing to take the milk man hostage over.

Sun – Partly Sunny – High 45˚ / Sun Night – Clear – Low 25˚

High pressure nudging in from the south will help provide us with partly to mostly sunny skies, which will coincide with southerly winds to send temperatures into the mid 40s.

Gradual clearing looks to take place throughout the day, with clear skies in place by Sunday night.  The surface image provided is valid for 12pm Sunday, and illustrates the high building north out of the Gulf:
